Paul is passionate about professional pest control and its role in safeguarding not only public health but the environment too.
In 2016 Paul attained his Certified Field Biologist award passing the examination with a distinction and now provides independent field biologist work in the UK and overseas.
Paul holds National Test Proficiency Test Council (NPTC) certification for competence in the use of pesticides PA1 & PA6.
Paul is committed to ongoing training and is a BASIS approved trainer for the delivery of Safe use of aluminium phosphide and National Storekeeper qualifications. Paul holds a level III HABC Award in Education & Training (QCF) and is an RSPH Assessor for the Level II Safe use of Aluminium Phosphide. Paul regularly runs training courses for both BPCA and BASIS amongst others.
Paul is an Applied Biology graduate who started his professional pest control career at Zeneca Crop Protection in 2001, conducting field trials of novel pesticides on a variety of agricultural crops.
In 2002, after a year exploring the world, he began his ‘urban’ Pest Control career, initially as a Service Technician with a National Servicing Company before taking up a position as Field Biologist with Rentokil.
Paul carried out this role successfully for a number of years alongside business related roles within Rentokil (Customer Support and Business Development Manager)
In 2006 Paul assisted on a field-based research program in The Amazon rainforest surveying for frogs and other terrestrial wildlife as part of a biodiversity study in North East Ecuador.
On his return to the UK Paul joined Rokill Pest Control, initially as a Field Biologist before being promoted in 2007 to the role of Senior Biologist.
In 2010 Paul returned to Rentokil to undertake the position of Technical Account Manager for the national Tesco account. Due to family and travel commitments Paul returned to Rokill to undertake a more localised role as a Regional Technical Account Manager for Sainsbury.
Along with his academic qualifications, in 2007 Paul passed the British Pest Control Association Diploma Part II examination and was additionally awarded the Charles Keeble Award for achieving the highest mark nationally. Paul is level 3 ‘Food safety supervision for manufacturing’ accredited and holds an IOSH working safely in Pest Control qualification.
Outside of work Paul enjoys travelling, cricket and football when he is not busy with his family.
Paul Westgate, Managing Director
SAM DUMSDAY BSc (Hons) - Certificated Field Biologist
Sam is passionate about pest management and committed to his continuous professional development within this field. Sam utilises his forensic investigation education and adapts it to the world of pest management to highlight the link between thorough investigation and problem solving.
Sam graduated from the University of Essex in 2017 with a 1st Class BSc (Hons) degree in Criminology & Forensic Investigation; with a primary focus on forensic science modules.
Sam began his career in pest management in 2018, as a Service Technician on Rentokil’s graduate scheme. Sam carried out the role successfully and attained new responsibilities as he progressed within the company, which included, supporting the Field Biologist with their audit and escalation visits, training new members of staff and managing the branches stock and chemical stores.
Sam moved to Rokill in 2021 in a Senior Technician role. During his time in this role Sam gained a wealth of knowledge and experience within the food production and manufacturing industry; spurring his desire to predominantly focus on pest management practices within this industry.
Sam joined Veritas Pest Consultancy in 2023 to progress his technical career further. Sam is committed to delivering interactive, engaging pest related training to help the industry safeguard public health and the environment accordingly.
